What should we do one month before the 11+ test?

A calm one-month checklist for families approaching an 11+ test date.

Move from learning to logistics

The final month should not be chaotic. By now, the child should broadly understand the test format, and parents should be checking the practical details.

This is also the moment to keep the admissions work moving. The CAF deadline may arrive soon after results.

Check the basics

  • Test date, venue and arrival time.
  • Candidate number or test confirmation.
  • What the child should bring.
  • Travel and backup travel.
  • Illness or special-arrangements guidance.
  • Result date and CAF deadline.

Keep the child steady

Short, focused practice can be useful. So can sleep, food, exercise and reassurance. A panicked final month rarely improves a child’s performance or confidence.

Do not pause school research

While the child prepares, parents should keep reading school policies and checking journeys. Results day is easier when the school list is already realistic.
