Parent question 11+ route question Updated 26 May 2026

Can my child sit Bexley and Kent tests?

Explains whether families can register for both Bexley and Kent 11+ routes and what to check before doing so.

Two nearby routes can still be separate

Bexley and Kent are both familiar names in south-east grammar school admissions, but they are not the same route. A child can often sit both only if the family completes both registration processes correctly.

The decision should be practical, not just geographical.

Example

A family lives within reach of both Bexley and Kent schools. Registering for both tests may keep more options open. But if the Kent schools are too far for daily travel, or Bexley schools are the only realistic CAF choices, the second test may add pressure without improving the school list.

What to check before registering for both

  • Registration deadlines for both routes.
  • Test dates and whether they clash.
  • Which schools each result can be used for, using the Bexley score explainer and Kent Test score explainer once results arrive.
  • Whether the child can manage two exam processes.
  • Travel and admissions policy for each named school.
  • The CAF deadline for the home local authority.

Keep the school list in charge

Do not start with “Can we sit both?” Start with “Which schools would we realistically name?” If the answer includes schools from both routes, then check both official registration processes carefully.
