The council process decides
CAF changes are handled by the local authority, not by a general grammar school rule. Some portals allow edits before the deadline. After the deadline, changes may be limited, refused, or treated as late depending on the council’s policy.
That matters because the secondary application deadline is normally 31 October.
Example
A family submits the CAF, then receives new score information. If the deadline has not passed and the portal allows changes, they may be able to edit the order. If the deadline has passed, they should contact the local authority before assuming the change will be accepted as on time.
What to check
- Whether the local authority portal allows edits.
- The final submission deadline.
- Whether a change after the deadline counts as late.
- Whether a change needs written evidence.
- Whether the original submission confirmation is still saved.
Avoid casual changes
Changing the CAF can affect the coordinated process. Before editing, check the exact school policy and the result wording that led you to reconsider.
