Bexley Selection Test dates for 2026 and 2027 entry

Bexley Selection Test dates for September 2027 entry, including registration status, test windows, results timing, and the checks after registration closes.

Registration for the 2026 Bexley Selection Test is closed. The London Borough of Bexley says registration closed at midnight on 31 March 2026 for children taking the September 2026 test for September 2027 secondary entry.

The next parent task depends on whether your child was registered in time. If they were, keep the test-centre, result and school-policy dates together. If they were not, read Bexley’s official wording carefully: the council says it does not accept late registrations and there is no appeal process for late registration.

Who the 2026 Bexley test is for

Bexley says the September 2026 Selection Test is for children born between 1 September 2015 and 31 August 2016 who will start secondary school in September 2027.

The test is open to children regardless of where they live, but that does not mean a place is guaranteed. Bexley says places are allocated according to each grammar school’s oversubscription criteria.

Use Bexley grammar schools for the local school group and Bexley 11 plus score explained for selective-standard, top-180 and distance wording.

The four Bexley grammar schools

Bexley uses one selection test for the four grammar schools:

Bexley says 800 places will be available across the four schools for September 2027 entry.

What a selective result means

Bexley says only children who achieve the selective mark are eligible for consideration for entry to a Bexley grammar school. It also says achieving the selective standard does not guarantee a place unless the child is among the top 180 highest scorers.

For other selective pupils, offers can depend on school admissions criteria such as distance and sibling priority. That makes the school policy essential reading before the secondary school application is submitted.

What to do next

If your child is registered:

  1. check test-centre details from Monday 3 August 2026
  2. plan the journey to the allocated venue with spare time
  3. keep the results timing beside the secondary school application deadline
  4. read the admissions policy for each Bexley grammar school you may list

If your child was not registered by 31 March 2026, read Bexley’s official page and contact the council only for the situations it describes. Do not assume another test route, such as Kent or Sutton, can be used for Bexley. Bexley says achieving a selective standard in Kent or another selection test will not be considered for the Bexley Selection Test.
