Wrekin College

Wrekin College has the feel of a school built around a long journey rather than a single point of entry. Founded in 1880, it now joins Wrekin Prep, Wrekin Senior and Wrekin Sixth in one co-educational day and boarding community. The school's stated Wrekin Way places ambition, curiosity, adventure and kindness alongside academic progress, giving the historic setting a present-day purpose.

The senior years have their own carefully marked stages. Years 7 and 8 begin in Lancaster House, a supportive bridge into senior education, before pupils move into senior Houses in Year 9. New pupils can also join at 13+, and the programme from Year 9 to 11 combines GCSE preparation with a broad choice of subjects, sport, music, creative arts, debate, outdoor activity and leadership opportunities.

Wrekin Sixth gives older pupils more independence without cutting them loose from the wider school. A levels and BTECs are taught in small classes with dedicated tutoring, target grades and careers guidance, while the Sixth Form Centre provides a distinct social and study base. Academic enrichment includes lectures, debates, Model United Nations, exchanges and the option of an Extended Project Qualification.

Boarding is part of the school's pastoral structure rather than simply an accommodation option. Bayley, Tudor and Hadden Hall are single-sex boarding houses within a co-educational school, while day pupils belong to the same wider community. Historic buildings, modern facilities and a full span from early years to Sixth Form give Wrekin College a distinctive all-through shape, with room for pupils to arrive at different stages and still find a coherent school experience.
