Worth School’s Benedictine tradition gives its co-educational boarding and day community a clear sense of purpose. Education reaches beyond examination grades towards humility, service, spiritual awareness and responsibility for other people and the world. The academic programme remains ambitious, but the work sits within Houses, tutoring, chapel and community life rather than apart from them.
The senior school begins at Year 7 and develops through a broad Middle School curriculum before pupils choose GCSE or IGCSE courses. Worth encourages intellectual curiosity and connections between subjects, while retaining a practical respect for knowledge, careful teaching and independent thought. Academic societies, lectures and departmental visits offer ways to pursue interests outside the formal timetable. Music, drama, art, design, sport and service are serious parts of school life.
Sixth Form students can choose between A Levels and the International Baccalaureate Diploma. The IB combines six subject groups with Theory of Knowledge, the Extended Essay and Creative Action Service, while the A Level route offers more than 20 subjects and the option of an EPQ. Students can therefore choose breadth and interdisciplinary thinking through the IB, or deeper subject specialisation through A Levels. In 2025, combined A Level, IB and BTEC results included 45.2% of grades at A* to A and 66.4% at A* to B.
Boarding is a seven-day-a-week experience for many pupils, centred on four Houses designed for around 50 full boarders each. Flexi options are available from Year 9, and day pupils are part of the same House and pastoral structure. Music uses the Abbey’s acoustic for major concerts, while community service and outreach give the school’s values a practical form. Worth holds academic choice, creative life, boarding and formation together in a distinctive Catholic education.
