Overview

Wimbledon High School GDST has educated girls in Wimbledon since 1880 and now carries that history through from the Junior School into a Sixth Form. It is a day school for girls aged 4 to 19, with the Girls' Day School Trust as proprietor and no boarding provision. Reception, Year 7 and Year 12 are its principal entry points.

In the Junior School, Adventum puts philosophical thinking at the centre of learning. From Reception, pupils explore questions about being human, free will and power, alongside specialist teaching in music, languages, sport, art and science. That combination gives the early years an intellectual identity beyond the usual subject timetable.

At 11+, verbal and non-verbal reasoning assessments are followed by an invited creative assessment and a reference from the candidate's current school. New entrants are not accepted into Year 11 or Year 13. Sixth Form candidates are considered through predicted GCSE grades, academic assessment and interview; the entry expectation includes grades 8 or 9 in the A-level subjects chosen and at least eight GCSEs at grades 6 to 9, with no more than two at grade 6.

In 2025, Attainment 8 was 81, and 100% achieved grade 4 or above as well as grade 5 or above in English and mathematics. The Sixth Form figure for AAB or better at A level was 58%. These results sit within a long-established girls' school whose particular character comes from the Junior School's philosophical curriculum and a clearly defined route into senior and Sixth Form study.
