Westonbirt House and its 210-acre estate give Westonbirt School a spacious setting for an all-through community. Early years, Prep, Senior School and Sixth Form pupils share the wider school, while sixth form boarders have a distinct residential base in co-educational Holford House. Day pupils and boarders therefore meet within the same grounds while following different daily routines.
The curriculum moves between academic, practical and creative routes. Prep combines specialist teaching, outdoor education and personalised pathways; the Senior School covers Years 7 to 11; and the sixth form offers A levels, BTECs, Leiths and the EPQ. Small classes and weekly tutoring are particularly visible in the post-16 years, where subject choice and future plans receive individual attention.
The scale of the site supports a wide programme: sport, STEM, creative and performing arts, community service, the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award and the Combined Cadet Force all have room to develop. Sixth Form facilities include study and communal spaces, a 25-metre pool, fitness suite and golf course. At Holford House, boarding makes shared routines, activities and older-pupil independence part of everyday life.
In Year 9, the Innovation Mindset Curriculum connects problem solving, creativity, communication and collaboration with work involving The Washing Machine Project. In 2024, 31% of GCSE entries were graded 9-7. It is an unusually concrete strand within a curriculum that otherwise moves between academic, creative and practical work.
