Westfield School

Westfield keeps its scale deliberately compact: up to 300 pupils move through Junior House, Senior House and Sixth Form as parts of one day-school community. The three sections share a campus in Gosforth, Newcastle upon Tyne, while the age range runs from three to 18. Boys join the Junior House, and there is no boarding provision, so the school’s identity is rooted in close daily contact between its stages.

Junior House covers ages three to 11, Senior House ages 11 to 16, and the sixth form begins at 16. The transition brings more specialist teaching and a stronger focus on A-level study, enrichment and future plans, but pupils remain connected to the same wider community. That combination of small scale and clear staging is central to the experience.

Round Square gives the programme a distinctive international and service-minded thread. Democracy, environmentalism, adventure, leadership and service are explored through school life rather than left as abstract ideas, alongside small classes, subject teaching and pastoral care. Initiative and collaboration consequently have a visible place beside academic work.

Junior, Senior and Sixth Form pupils have their own rhythms and expectations, but the school’s deliberately compact structure keeps them connected to the same daily community. Westfield’s size is not simply a number: it shapes the amount of contact pupils can have across the school as they get older.
