Overview

A 1707 foundation for the sons of workers on the Longleat estate remains visible in Warminster School's buildings and traditions. Thomas Thynne's original purpose has grown into a co-educational day and boarding route from the early years to the Sixth Form, with a registered range extending from age 2 to 19.

The original Wren Doorway links the present community to Longleat, and St Boniface, once a missionary college, is now one of the boarding houses. Buildings associated with the former National School and St Monica's also form part of the Church Street setting, reflecting the local foundations from which the modern school developed.

Academic life broadens before GCSE study in Years 10 and 11. The Sixth Form offers A Levels, the International Baccalaureate Diploma and the IB Career-related Programme, alongside a wide senior curriculum. Sport, music, drama, co-curricular activity and mentoring continue around the academic programme. In 2025, 63% of A Level grades were A*-B.

From September 2026, full boarding is planned from Year 7 alongside weekly and flexible arrangements, including flexi-boarding in Years 5 and 6. House teams, matrons and resident staff provide the pastoral framework, while sport, trips and activities continue through weekends.
