Overview

A missionary-founded history still shapes Walthamstow Hall's physical and educational character. It began in Walthamstow in 1838 as a home and education for the daughters of missionaries, then moved to Sevenoaks in 1882. Junior, Senior and Sixth Form education serves girls, with nursery and pre-school places also part of the community.

The Holly Bush Lane campus keeps that history visible. The original Arts and Crafts building remains at the heart of the senior setting, alongside a vaulted dining room, the Ship Theatre, science facilities, sports spaces and a dedicated Sixth Form Centre. In 2025 the junior phase returned to the senior site in Blackburn House.

Academic life is built around breadth and choice. Years 7 to 9 include a broad curriculum and separate sciences from the first year, followed by flexible I/GCSE options. The Sixth Form offers 26 A Level subjects and the Extended Project Qualification, with seminar-sized teaching groups and room to combine arts and sciences.

Six vertical Houses bring ages together for music, sport, service and friendly competition. Clubs, rehearsals, trips and leadership extend beyond the timetable, while means-tested bursaries include Founders' awards for families in greatest financial need. Walthamstow Hall joins missionary history, girls' education and a creative Sevenoaks campus.
