Overview
An 1880 foundation by Edward White Benson, then Bishop of Truro, gives Truro High School a long historical thread. The girls' day and boarding route moved to Falmouth Road in 1896 and now combines senior education, boarding and a Sixth Form.
Questioning, examining and problem-solving shape Senior School learning. Before GCSE, pupils study English, Mathematics, Science, a modern foreign language, Philosophy and Religious Studies and PE, then choose from Latin, Classical Civilisation, Computing, Drama, Music, Art and Textiles. Immersive learning days and specialist programmes extend work beyond lessons.
The Sixth Form connects subject study with the next stage of education. Year 13 pupils secured university places in 2025 including Oxford, Bristol, Durham, Exeter, Lancaster and Newcastle. The 2025 A level measure includes 27.3 per cent achieving AAB or better, while music, drama, engineering, sport and creative work remain part of daily life.
Boarding sits alongside day attendance, with house parents, supervised preparation, shared living space and weekend activities in Dalvenie and Rashleigh House.
