Overview

Tring Park School for the Performing Arts has occupied the Rothschild Mansion at Tring Park since 1945. It separated from Arts Educational Schools in 1994 and adopted its present name in 2009. The historic mansion is the setting for a specialist school where artistic training, academic study and residential life are deliberately interwoven.

The school educates pupils aged 7 to 19 through an integrated academic and vocational curriculum. In the Prep, academic and performing-arts lessons sit together; from Year 7, pupils can follow Dance or Performance Foundation. Sixth Form specialisms include Dance, Acting, Musical Theatre and Commercial Music, with academic qualifications alongside the technique and discipline needed for performance.

Dance, drama, musical theatre, music and technical theatre are taught by specialist staff. Five dance studios opened in 2011, and current facilities include modern studios, a theatre and a dining hall renovated in 2021. Productions, choirs, film festivals and other projects bring the vocational courses together in the school week.

Tring Park is co-educational, with day and boarding places. Boarding is available from Years 6 to 13; around 60 per cent of pupils board in three houses organised by age and gender, with residential houseparents and weekend activities. Admissions are based on ability or potential in a vocational course and include an entrance audition, with separate routes for Prep, Forms 1 to 5 and Sixth Form.
