Opening in 1868, Trent College has grown into the senior partner in the Trent Schools organisation, alongside The Elms. Boys and girls can follow day or boarding education from age 3 to 19, with a sixth form giving the older years a distinct academic and social centre. Music, sport and drama remain visible parts of college life rather than marginal additions.

Boarding comes in full, weekly and flexi patterns. Weekly boarders stay for five or six nights, while flexi boarders use the houses for three or four nights.
