Tiferes High School

Jewish festivals, sister mentoring, charity and performance give Tiferes High School a distinctive rhythm. Girls aged 11 to 16 study within an Orthodox Jewish secondary setting where Hebrew, Jewish life and academic subjects meet. Year 11 big sisters help Year 7 pupils settle, while the annual show brings scriptwriting, costume design and performance into school life.

Information technology, humanities, Hebrew, art and sewing sit within the curriculum, while older pupils may choose GCSE or equivalent subjects. Teachers use checks and formal tests to identify gaps in learning, and careers work includes future jobs and post-16 options. Hiking trips, class competitions and charity fundraising add practical experiences beyond lessons.

The school also makes room for pupil initiative. Older girls organise the annual production, festival celebrations shape the calendar, and the Year 11 mentoring role gives pupils responsibility for younger students. Behaviour was polite and respectful, while the combination of faith, creative work and peer support gives the secondary years a recognisable character.

In June 2024, quality of education and behaviour and attitudes were judged good. Personal development, leadership and management, and overall effectiveness required improvement; not all independent-school Standards were met, and safeguarding was effective. Support strategies for pupils with special educational needs were not always used consistently. No online prospectus is available and policies can be requested in hard copy.
