Overview

Individuality, good character, responsibility and a sense of purpose sit at the heart of Thames Christian School, founded in 2000. Its purpose-designed, RIBA award-winning building brings science, creative work and technical subjects into the same small setting, serving pupils from 11 to 18 in a co-educational day community.

The curriculum is broad for its size. Key Stage 3 includes study of the major world religions before Religious Studies GCSE, while languages include French, Spanish and Mandarin. Bilingual pupils may enter GCSEs in Russian, Modern Greek, Mandarin or Japanese. Design and STEAM workshops, art facilities and subject-specific trips connect knowledge with practical work and independent thought.

The sixth form centres on three or four A Levels and continued participation in the wider activities programme. Among the 2025 leavers, 39 per cent of A Level grades were A* or A and 85 per cent were A* to C, with destinations including universities and specialist creative study. Laboratories, a theatre, design and STEAM workshops, art studios, an independent study centre and seminar rooms support that phase.

Small classes, close relationships and individual encouragement run alongside creative arts, sport and pastoral activity. In 2025, the relevant Standards were met. Thames therefore joins academic study, languages, design, music, sport and personal responsibility within one 11-18 experience, with the scale of the setting making personal attention part of daily life.
