Tennis Avenue School

Academic lessons, tennis training, competition and recovery share one timetable in Tennis Avenue's integrated model. The result is an education for pupils whose sporting pathway is part of the school day, not an activity added after lessons. The setting serves ages 8 to 16 and is built around a day route without residential provision.

Primary Lower and Upper, Pre-GCSE and GCSE stages broadly correspond to Years 4 to 11. Classes usually contain five to eight pupils, with teaching groups set by ability in each subject. Hybrid on-site and online classrooms allow tournament travel without abandoning lessons, while the academic programme runs for 35 weeks.

A normal day from 8am to 5.30pm combines three academic lessons with three tennis sessions. Training is available across 48 weeks, with optional holiday sessions when pupils are not competing and four stated rest weeks. Physical preparation and travel are therefore built into the rhythm of learning, rather than treated as an occasional extracurricular commitment.

Entry considers physical potential, coachability, attitude and family commitment. Younger applicants are expected to be advanced players, while Years 6 and 7 applicants are normally competing at LTA Grade 3 or national level. Immersion Days combine tennis, academic lessons and fitness before a place is considered, and limited two-year full and 50% scholarships are available for younger entrants.
