The 1945 move to Woodside Hall on the River Tees became a turning point in Teesside High School's story. Boys joined the prep school in 2005 and the senior school and sixth form in 2008, creating the co-educational day-school community that now runs from early years to 18.
In the senior years, English, mathematics and science sit alongside subjects such as Classics, Food and Nutrition and Latin. The GCSE route is taught in smaller classes, with room for discussion, communication and independent work. Sport, music, outdoor education and other activities give the school day a second rhythm beyond lessons.
Sixth Form students combine A-level study with private-study periods and designated work areas. Entry normally requires at least five GCSEs at grade 5 or above, including grade 6s in subjects chosen for A-level, while academic, music and sport scholarships recognise particular strengths. The relevant standards were met at the May 2025 inspection.
This is a school whose current identity is tied to its riverside history, smaller senior classes and a Sixth Form that asks students to make increasingly independent use of their time. Its routes into the senior years and post-16 study remain distinct parts of one co-educational school.
