Tayyibah Girls' School began with four pupils in Stamford Hill and has grown into an all-through girls' community. The Tayyibah Educational Trust dates its establishment to September 1992, and the move to Filey Avenue followed in 1993 before the building was extended. Islamic character, academic ambition and community are therefore part of the institution's history as well as its present identity.
Secondary pupils study English, mathematics, science, computing, history, geography, PE, art, religious studies and Arabic, with Urdu or Turkish also available. Years 7 to 11 have six 45-minute lessons each day. Progression, critical thought, communication and connections between subjects give the timetable an academic shape that is more deliberate than a list of separate courses.
Faith is integrated with daily learning through Islamic Studies, Quran, Arabic and a Tarbiyyah programme. Islamic character, discipline and self-respect shape education, while RSE follows an Association of Muslim Schools curriculum with an Islamic narrative and evidence-based, age-appropriate teaching.
When oversubscribed, priority goes to girls living in the N16 and E5 catchment areas. The registered provision is girls-only from ages 4 to 18 and includes a sixth form. That final stage continues the same Islamic ethos and Hackney community, making Tayyibah a single through-school journey rather than separate primary, secondary and post-16 institutions.
