StreetVibes Media Academy is built around a different starting point from a conventional large secondary setting. Its alternative-education nurture model is intended for young people who have experienced disruption or barriers to education, with personalised learning for pupils aged 11 to 19. The registered provision is mixed, includes a sixth form and has no boarding.
Each student has an individual learning journey mapped from induction. Courses cover Key Stages 3, 4 and 5, including GCSE and BTEC programmes, with particular attention to music, digital media and creative technology. The transition process links referring schools with progression towards further education, employment or training rather than treating an exam timetable as the whole destination.
Practical creative work has a substantial place. The training centre includes a multimedia space, DJ lab, internet radio station and professional studios. Music production, live instruments, DJing and MCing, radio broadcasting, singing, songwriting, video production, performance, dance, drama and web design give pupils ways to learn through making as well as through formal study.
Admission is non-selective, with an agreed admission number of up to 40 pupils each day. Inclusion work recognises diagnosed or undiagnosed SEND and histories of disrupted education. PSHE and citizenship run through full-time provision for 11 to 16-year-olds and the post-16 programme, connecting the academic offer with creative practice and preparation for what comes next.
