Stanborough Secondary School

Horticulture gives Stanborough Secondary School a practical signature. Four operational greenhouses and open-field cultivation sit alongside a Christian education whose history began in 1919, when the community primarily served children of overseas missionaries before widening its intake. The secondary complex was completed in 1991, and the Seventh-day Adventist tradition remains part of its identity.

Spiritual, academic, physical and social development are held together through values of excellence, respect, courage, resilience and integrity. Key Stages 3 and 4 cover English, mathematics, separate sciences, humanities, French and Spanish, religious education, creative subjects, computing, food technology, physical education, PSHE, citizenship and careers.

Admissions involve a tour and application, followed by GL Assessment, CATS testing and interview. Careers work begins with options awareness in Year 8, university visits and employability activity in Year 9, a week of work experience in Year 10, and support with sixth forms, colleges and apprenticeships for Year 11.

Boarding remains a developing part of the offer. Five- and seven-day options are advertised, while the dedicated boarding provision is still marked as opening soon. That unresolved position is important alongside the school's distinctive Christian foundation and unusually hands-on horticulture programme.
