Overview

Stamford School's heritage reaches back to 1532, while its recent story is one of deliberate change. It is now co-educational across all year groups, following a staged transition completed in September 2024. The senior and Sixth Form community sits within a wider Stamford organisation that also includes nursery and junior stages across the town.

The Senior School serves ages 11 to 16 from the St Paul's site in the town centre. Its education combines contemporary academic ambition with independent thought, pastoral care and co-curricular opportunity. Sixth Form students use the separate St Martin's site, created from the former Stamford High School site in summer 2023, while remaining part of the same community.

The facilities extend across 60 acres: teaching and resource centres, art and technology spaces, an observatory, performance spaces, two sports halls, swimming pools, tennis and squash courts, cricket facilities and playing fields. Historic buildings sit beside specialist learning, sport and boarding accommodation, so the organisation is intentionally multi-site rather than a single campus.

Boarding is available termly as full, weekly, casual or flexible provision, with houseparents and residential teams supporting study and age-appropriate activities. Sixth Form entry uses GCSE and subject requirements, a reference, reports and interview. The combination of shared identity and distinct sites gives the senior years their particular shape.
