A Victorian manor designed by Augustus Pugin gives Stafford Grammar School an unusually recognisable centre. The co-educational community began in 1982 with 17 pupils and now brings Prep, senior years and Sixth Form together at Burton Manor on the outskirts of Stafford, with science laboratories, a music room, sports spaces and a dedicated Sixth Form centre.
Years 7 to 9 study English, mathematics, sciences, French, German, humanities, religious education, creative subjects, computing, music, physical education and Life and Wellbeing. At GCSE, most pupils take nine or ten subjects, including English language and literature, mathematics, science, a humanities subject and selected options. A Careers Day lets pupils encounter possible GCSE and A-level subjects before choosing.
Small classes and individual attention shape the senior experience, with educational support available for pupils who need a more individualised approach at particular points. Subject enrichment, music, drama, sport, debating, chess, STEM activity, the Duke of Edinburgh's Award, service and public performance keep the curriculum active beyond lessons.
Sixth Form combines A-level study with leadership, mentoring and careers preparation. University visits, work experience, presentation and interview practice, financial literacy, volunteering and pupil leadership form part of the programme. A non-denominational Christian foundation welcomes pupils of all faiths and none, placing confidence, care and individual development alongside academic ambition.
