Overview

Faith, character, community, compassion and intellect form the five-part centre of St Teresa's School. Founded in 1928 by the Religious Order of Christian Instruction, the girls' day and boarding community now uses a Surrey campus of about 55 acres, where a main house dating from 1799 stands alongside playing fields, grassland, historic buildings and newer facilities.

The Catholic foundation remains clear while pupils of all faiths and none are welcome. The senior curriculum stays broad across literary, linguistic, mathematical, scientific, technological, creative, physical and moral areas. GCSE pupils normally take nine or ten subjects, including English, mathematics, dual-award science and religious studies, with options such as computer science, languages, history, art, music, drama and design.

From Year 7, boarding can be full, weekly, flexi or occasional, subject to availability. Residential life is structured but flexible, with pastoral staff supporting study, independence and time away from lessons. Day girls and boarders share facilities and activities, while the grounds and proximity to London support trips, cultural visits and outdoor use.

Senior entry is available at 11 and 13, with occasional places at other ages and a Sixth Form route. The current process combines assessments and references with a planned move to ISEB Common Pre-Tests at 11+ and 13+ for future cohorts. Academic scholarships for Years 7 and 9 use entrance performance; means-tested bursaries support joining pupils and current pupils facing temporary financial difficulty.
