St Peter's School 2-18

A foundation dated to AD 627 gives St Peter's School a long memory, but its 2-18 journey is lived in the present. The co-educational community in Clifton, York, occupies around 50 acres beside the River Ouse and connects Christian heritage, links with York Minster, qualifications, practical skills, interests and values across successive stages.

The senior curriculum combines depth with extension. In the Sixth Form, most pupils study four courses in the Lower Sixth before moving to three in the Upper Sixth; further mathematics and the Extended Project Qualification are among the available combinations. The timetabled St Peter's Enrichment Programme, or StEP, covers financial planning, careers, university preparation, cookery and communication skills across both Sixth Form years.

Sport, music, drama, art and design, clubs, trips and excursions make co-curricular life part of the ordinary week. Houses, careers support and pastoral guidance provide structure, while the riverside grounds, sports provision and specialist spaces allow activity to sit naturally beside academic work.

Applications are made directly through senior and Sixth Form routes, with entrance assessments at the main entry points. A Help With Fees programme offers means-tested support, and boarding includes a dedicated Sixth Form community. The result is continuity from early years to 18 without flattening the distinct needs of younger pupils, senior students and boarders.
