St Josephs School

Close relationships give St Josephs School in Launceston its organising idea. The non-denominational day route runs from age 4 to 16 through Pre-Prep, Junior and Senior sections, giving pupils continuity through GCSE study without a Sixth Form. The scale leaves space for staff to notice progress and for families to remain part of the community.

The approach is non-selective and has no entrance examination. Small classes allow individual attention, while pastoral care sits beside academic challenge and encourages pupils to become confident, independent learners. Staff, pupils and families share responsibility for the tone and daily life of the setting.

The curriculum is broad across the three stages. Junior pupils build confidence, hard work and a passion for learning; the Senior School prepares motivated pupils for the next step after 16. Visits, open events, taster days and extra-curricular opportunities give children a direct sense of the daily experience before they join.

Applications are made directly, with families able to meet the Head Teacher, Registrar and teaching staff. Year 7 taster days support pupils moving from Year 6, while visits and taster experiences are part of the route at other stages. This is a mixed Launceston day school for ages 4 to 16, without boarding or a Sixth Form.
