St John's Preparatory and Senior School

St John's Preparatory and Senior School joins a prep education in Potters Bar to senior years on The Ridgeway and a small Sixth Form to age 19. Christian values, social competence, environmental awareness, sport and the arts sit beside a traditional academic identity, giving the connected setting a wider purpose than examination preparation alone.

In the prep years, English combines literature, writing, public speaking and LAMDA. Mathematics uses White Rose and Target Maths with investigations and real-world problem solving; science develops through biology, chemistry and physics; and computing includes coding, robotics and digital literacy. Year 6 pupils also work with senior teachers in laboratories.

GCSE and A-level study develop analytical reading, debate and independent judgement. Sixth Form is intentionally small, with up to 30 students joining each year, quiet study areas, a common room, grounds and sporting facilities. Music, art and drama have dedicated creative space, while football, netball, tennis, cricket, swimming and trips keep the wider week active.

Registration and a visit begin the admissions route. Senior applicants sit an October entrance examination before interview and a tour, and contribution to wider life is considered alongside academic readiness. The prep and senior years are connected, but each stage keeps its own expectations and rhythm.
