St James Senior Boys' School

Set on a 30-acre site in Ashford, Surrey, St James Senior Boys' School is a day school for boys aged 11 to 18. Founded in 1975, it belongs to the St James Schools group, whose educational approach was shaped by philosophically inclined parents and a concern for intellectual, emotional and spiritual development. The Ashford school is a senior community with a Sixth Form and no boarding provision.

The curriculum brings traditional academic subjects together with creative and practical work. Alongside mathematics, science and the humanities, pupils can study languages, art, music, design technology and drama, with Sanskrit and Greek among the unusual choices highlighted by the school. St James describes its mixed-ability intake and its aim of building independent thought, curiosity and a love of learning through both classroom study and wider experience.

The school's wider programme includes sport, the arts, trips and opportunities to take responsibility for others. In the Sixth Form, small classes and individual guidance support university, apprenticeship and employment applications, including personal-statement workshops, interview practice and UCAS references. Sixth Form pupils also contribute to school life through leadership, charity events, sport and activities for younger pupils, making the final years a bridge between the established school community and life beyond it.
