St James' School

Character and practical support shape St James' Church of England community. Pupils aged 11 to 18 move through the senior years into a Sixth Form designed to unlock potential, build thoughtful habits and help young people take responsibility for their next step. The setting combines a non-selective route with boarding and a deliberately personal scale.

Years 7 to 9 study English, mathematics, science, humanities, languages, music, art, ICT, physical education, PSHE and religious studies. At GCSE, six subjects are compulsory and four more are chosen. The Learning Hub adds revision classes, mentoring and a quiet base for independent study, making study habits part of the daily structure.

The mainstream school, Learning Hub and Learning Lodge provide different forms of support. Small classes and individual attention help pupils build confidence and communication through public speaking, the school play and other enrichment, while the wider community gives international pupils a place within everyday school life.

Boarding is available from age 10 to 18, with houseparents and an international mix of pupils. Sixth Form offers A Levels and vocational courses in a personalised two-year setting, alongside talks, debating, an Extended Project Qualification, work experience and Life Skills. Admissions are non-selective and include a visit, informal meeting and taster days.
