Miss May Rowland Brown's 1899 foundation remains part of St Helen's identity, but the experience is firmly all-through and forward-looking. Girls aged 3 to 18 move from Prep into the Senior School and Sixth Form within a 21-acre setting, where younger and older pupils share a community without losing the distinct needs of each stage.
The curriculum grows from the Early Years Foundation Stage through A Level. Literacy, numeracy, languages, ICT and scientific understanding develop across the years, while the Sixth Form offers around 30 A Level subjects. Sciences, languages, humanities, creative subjects, philosophy and mathematics leave room for different academic directions and changing interests.
Music, sport, performance, leadership and community activity give the week energy beyond lessons. Pastoral work centres on knowing each girl as an individual, with emotional resilience, confidence, curiosity and contribution treated as companions to academic achievement. That combination creates a busy education with a clear personal thread.
Senior entry focuses on Year 7 and Year 12. Year 7 applicants use the London 11+ Consortium assessment and attend an interview; Sixth Form applicants complete subject assessments and an interview alongside the GCSE requirements. Places can also arise in Years 8 to 10, while the Sixth Form offers a more independent setting for university preparation.
