Self-mastery, expressed in the motto "Vincent Qui Se Vincunt", gives St George's Ascot a distinctive centre. Founded as a boys' preparatory school in 1877, the institution later became a finishing school for girls before developing into the senior day and boarding community it is today. That history helps explain the emphasis on independence and purposeful confidence.
Girls are encouraged to ask questions, try unfamiliar activities, contribute to shared work and learn from setbacks. Small classes allow focused attention and tailored challenge, while academic ambition is matched by creativity, music, performance, sport, enterprise and service.
The House system joins year groups through sporting, creative, academic and charitable events. Debating, Model United Nations, Bar Mock Trials, the Duke of Edinburgh's Award, language and arts clubs give the wider programme a practical edge, helping pupils test ideas, lead others and find interests beyond examination subjects.
Boarding is flexible: Markham House serves Years 7 to 11, Loveday House gives Sixth Form pupils individual bedrooms and greater independence, and SGA Stays includes full, weekly and flexi arrangements. Main entry points are 11+, 13+ and 16+. Boys are due to join Years 7 and 9 in September 2027 and the Sixth Form in September 2028 as co-education is phased in.
