St Francis College

St Francis’ College is a girls’ day and boarding school in Letchworth Garden City, with a co-educational Nursery. Founded in 1933, it is now part of the Inspired Learning Group. The Nursery, Prep, Senior School and Sixth Form share one campus, creating an all-through setting in which the senior school and Sixth Form are part of the same established community.

The College uses its DREAM, DARE and ACHIEVE language to frame its approach to individual care and learning. Senior entry is offered at 11+ and 13+, with Sixth Form entry at 16+. In the dedicated Sixth Form Centre, A-level students have study rooms, collaborative space, tutorial classrooms, a lecture theatre and a cafe; the school also sets out careers, UCAS and degree-apprenticeship guidance within its Sixth Form programme.

Boarding is available from Year 6 in full, weekly, flexi and day formats. The College’s central Letchworth site includes a theatre, swimming pool, laboratories, sports courts and a Sixth Form centre. Inspection reporting notes a broad curriculum and the use of the grounds and facilities to enrich education and recreation, including the theatre’s role in developing creative and speaking skills.

The admissions process includes a taster day, registration, age-appropriate entrance examinations in English, mathematics and non-verbal reasoning for senior entry, and an interview. With girls’ senior and Sixth Form education, flexible boarding and an early-years provision that is co-educational, St Francis’ has a clear all-through identity without treating the Nursery as part of its girls-only senior offer.
