St Edward's School

St Edward's in Charlton Kings is built around close attention. Lower School, Upper School and Sixth Form form a day-school route for pupils aged 11 to 18, with small classes and a non-selective approach that leave room for different abilities and learning needs. Supported learning sits alongside the central curriculum rather than being treated as a separate track.

Academic progress is paired with a deliberate increase in independence. Sixth Form students can lead clubs, captain teams, perform, organise charity events, complete EPQs and take part in community service. The senior years therefore combine subject study with practical opportunities to make decisions and contribute to the wider community.

Sport, expressive arts, cadet training and the Duke of Edinburgh's Award give the week a varied shape. These activities are not simply occasional extras: they provide settings for teamwork, leadership and persistence, with staff able to keep the scale personal enough to know pupils well.

The principal entry points are Year 7, Year 9 and Year 12, although places can arise at other stages. Scholarships and means-tested bursaries form part of the arrangements, alongside visits, fees and direct applications. The Cheltenham day school has a different character and admissions route from the Oxford Teddies.
