St Edward's School

Oxford gives Teddies a setting in which history and present-day school life sit unusually close together. Victorian religious beginnings, the memory of two World Wars and the work of the Old Edwardian Society all remain part of the institution's story, while day pupils and boarders now share a co-educational community for ages 13 to 18.

Academic life reaches beyond the examination timetable. The Super-Curriculum links pupils with lectures, trips and independent interests, and Sixth Form students can follow A levels or the International Baccalaureate Diploma. Those routes offer different forms of challenge without separating academic ambition from the wider Oxford setting.

Thirteen houses give a large school a more personal rhythm. Pupils from different year groups live or belong together with residential staff, a matron and a nurse, and each house develops its own activities. Day pupils and boarders therefore meet through a shared pastoral structure rather than occupying separate versions of the school.

Admissions centre on 13+ and 16+ entry. Shell candidates take the ISEB Common Pre-Test or, for Year 8 applicants, CAT4, while Fourth Form and Sixth Form candidates follow separate assessment and interview arrangements. This is the Oxford Teddies, with its own admissions route, houses and boarding community.
