St Dominic's Priory School

A nineteenth-century Dominican foundation gives St Dominic's Priory School its sense of place and purpose. The small Catholic community in Stone began alongside the convent founded by Mother Margaret Hallahan and remains close to the resident sisters, parish church and local Catholic life. Co-educational day provision runs from the early years to Year 11.

Years 7 to 9 combine English, mathematics, sciences, religious education, PE, art and design, languages, music, performing arts, humanities, computer science and design technology. Small classes allow individual needs to be considered, while religious study, liturgy, retreats and service keep Catholic life connected to the curriculum rather than confined to a single subject.

Music and performance are particularly visible. Choir, orchestra, percussion, keyboard, music technology, ukulele and guitar groups sit alongside productions, showcases and performances in local venues. Sport, performing arts, the Duke of Edinburgh's Award and clubs extend the senior programme, giving pupils several ways to participate, perform and build confidence through practice.

Entry is non-selective, with individual assessment, a meeting with parents or carers and taster days; places may be available at different points. CAT4 forms part of the admissions assessment, with additional needs considered. Academic, art and bursary routes are available, giving the school's Catholic, creative and academic character several distinct routes through which pupils can take part and develop.
