St Christopher School

A 1915 foundation in the Garden City movement still informs the atmosphere at St Christopher School. The co-educational day and boarding community in Letchworth Garden City spans Nursery, Junior, Senior and Sixth Form stages, with individual attention, first-name relationships and no uniform contributing to an informal style. St Chris places independence and questioning alongside academic study.

Years 7 to 9 provide a broad foundation. In Years 10 and 11, English, mathematics and sciences form the core before pupils choose further subjects, while Year 10 includes either the Higher Project Qualification or IGCSE Global Perspectives. Year 11 adds practical qualifications such as first aid, mental-health training, British Sign Language and Sports Leaders Awards, making choice and useful skills part of the senior curriculum.

Sport, productions, music, robotics and environmental projects sit alongside the Thursday Opportunities programme, where senior pupils choose across sport, skills, wellbeing and social activity. Service is expressed through leadership, peer mentoring, local projects and global connections. The range gives pupils ways to move between academic, creative, practical and community activity.

Boarding is available in full, weekly and flexi forms in a co-educational house with separate corridors and shared social spaces. The setting is academically inclusive and non-selective. Senior applicants attend a Taster Morning with small-group activities, a cognitive ability assessment and an informal conversation, allowing readiness and wider interests to be considered together.
