Not Words, but Deeds is the motto that gives St Catherine's School its practical Catholic character. The Sisters of Mercy arrived in Twickenham in 1914 and the school moved to the Pope's Villa site in 1919. After the Sisters left in 1991, parents established a charitable trust so the community could continue under lay governance. Prep, Senior and Sixth Form provision now welcomes girls of all faiths and backgrounds.
A broad Key Stage 3 leads into IGCSE or GCSE study and A levels. Religious Education is central to the timetable, alongside sciences, languages, history, computing, creative arts, drama, food and nutrition, and physical education. The curriculum gives academic study a practical setting in which action, community life and service remain visible themes.
Music, drama and debating have particularly clear roles. Music is central to community life, drama begins in Year 7 and continues through examination courses and productions, while debating gives pupils a formal setting for argument and public speaking. These strands sit beside the practical and creative subjects that give the Senior School its varied character.
