Overview

Peace, truth, justice and love give St Benedict's School a recognisable Benedictine inheritance. The monks of Ealing Abbey founded it in 1902 as a boys' school; it became fully co-educational in 2007 and an independent charity with its own governing board in 2012. Nursery, Junior, Senior and Sixth Form provision now share the Eaton Rise setting in Ealing.

The Sixth Form combines A levels with talks, visits to London's museums, libraries and lectures, the Extended Project Qualification and opportunities to take responsibility. Volunteering with local charities and older people in Ealing sits alongside peer mentoring, community events and leadership of co-curricular initiatives, making service part of the older pupils' routine rather than a single occasional activity.

More than 100 activities run before school, at lunchtime and after school. Sport, music, art, drama, science and academic societies sit alongside debating, Model United Nations, the Combined Cadet Force, the Duke of Edinburgh's Award, language and subject clubs, ensembles and productions. Pupils can move between intellectual, creative, practical and service activities according to their interests.

Admission is selective. Academic performance, other abilities and character are considered through an academic assessment, interview or group assessment, and a reference from the applicant's current school. The route sits alongside a welcome to pupils of all races, nationalities and religions, including those of no specific faith, within a Roman Catholic co-educational day setting.
