Founded by the Girls' Public Day School Trust in 1876, South Hampstead High School GDST has grown into a girls' day community from age 4 to 19, with Junior School, Senior School and Sixth Form stages. Its identity is distinct from other schools carrying South Hampstead or Hampstead names, while the long history remains visible in the breadth of the current offer.
Years 7 to 9 include critical thinking, design and technology, drama, philosophy and religion, Latin and a choice of French, German, Mandarin or Spanish. At GCSE, a core programme is joined by a language, a humanity and options such as Ancient Greek, art, computing, music, physical education and a second language. Debate, trips and off-timetable days add application and independence.
