Small classes, individual attention and pastoral support give Silcoates School its particular shape. The continuous route runs from pre-school and junior years through senior study and Sixth Form, with the senior phase serving ages 11 to 16 and post-16 study continuing to 19.
Classroom teaching is joined by creative, sporting and other co-curricular activity. Sixth Form courses are designed to develop confidence, articulacy, aspiration and leadership inside and outside lessons, while the senior years prepare pupils for the next stage through academic study and wider participation.
Entry begins with contact, a report, a visit and a Welcome Day. From Year 3 onwards, applicants complete an age-appropriate assessment. Senior-school assessments cover English, mathematics, verbal reasoning and non-verbal reasoning; Year 7 applicants sit a formal entrance examination, while Sixth Form applicants do not need one under the admissions policy.
Scholarships are available for Year 7 and Sixth Form entrants in academic work, music and sport. Means-tested bursaries can be worth up to the full school fee, subject to assessment and review. These routes make the senior and post-16 transition explicit while retaining a continuous age range.
