Overview

Sevenoaks School's all-IB Sixth Form grows out of a foundation traced to William Sevenoke's fifteenth-century bequest. The 100-acre Kent campus combines Old School, built in 1732, the Sevenoaks Almshouses, the Johnson Library and specialist teaching spaces. Historic buildings and a modern international curriculum sit unusually close together.

Sevenoaks adopted the International Baccalaureate in 1978 and became the first HMC institution to do so. A Middle School programme and Core Critical Thinking from Year 7 to Year 11 lead into a Sixth Form that is now all-IB, with breadth, depth and enrichment kept at the centre of subject choice.

The Sixth Form has more than 400 students from over 50 countries. A long service tradition and an early international boarding house form part of the history, while the current programme connects reflection, voluntary service and contribution beyond academic subjects. The international character is therefore part of both the present cohort and the institution's development.

Boarding creates a smaller community inside the main setting. Houses bring together students of many nationalities, and academic staff act as tutors supporting progress and wellbeing. At Sevenoaks, the all-IB route sits within a co-educational boarding school for ages 11 to 18.
