Scarborough College

Scarborough College's heritage reaches from a company formed in 1896 to an opening in 1901, while its present identity is shaped by an IB-focused Sixth Form and a broad day-and-boarding community. The co-educational, non-selective provision runs from age 3 to 18 and remains open.

The senior curriculum combines core subjects with sciences, languages and the arts. After-school enrichment covers sport, performance, revision and clubs, while Yorkshire Grit takes Years 7 to 9 outdoors through surfing, raft building, climbing and navigation. These strands give the senior years a strong emphasis on activity alongside lessons.

Scarborough has been an IB World School since 2007, and the Sixth Form is IB-focused. Students choose subjects across six groups and complete the Diploma core of Theory of Knowledge, the Extended Essay and Creativity, Activity, Service. BTEC Sport is also available, alongside a reduced IB programme.

Boarding can begin in Year 7, with activities, trips and pastoral care organised through the house system. The community includes pupils from the UK and overseas. Applications use the college's online process, and the non-selective approach applies to new students while places and the stated admissions requirements remain the practical conditions of entry.
