A 110-acre campus gives Royal Russell School room to bring day pupils and boarders into one house and tutor community. The co-educational senior years and Sixth Form share the site with younger pupils, while the houses provide a smaller setting inside the wider school. Years 7 to 9 follow a broad Key Stage 3 programme. In Year 9, pupils choose GCSE or IGCSE subjects for Years 10 and 11: English language and literature, mathematics, the three sciences and a modern foreign language form the core, with three further choices. Careers lessons, study skills, clubs and trips sit alongside the formal timetable.
Boarding places begin in Year 7. Resident house staff, tutors, communal rooms and study spaces shape the houses, with evening and weekend activities and a medical centre on campus. The boarding route is open to applicants from the UK and overseas, giving the same curriculum and co-curricular programme a residential dimension.
Boarding applicants submit a recent school report, register and then complete English, mathematics, verbal-reasoning and non-verbal-reasoning assessments followed by an interview. Overseas assessments can be arranged through an agent, current school or the British Council. Senior School scholarships and bursaries are available at Years 7, 9 and 12, but that support is not limited to boarders.
