Overview
Two Victorian girls' schools gave Royal High School GDST its present shape. The Royal School opened in 1865 for army officers' daughters, while Bath High School began in 1875 as an early GDST school outside London; their 1998 union created Royal High Bath. That history still sits behind a girls' education spanning prep, senior years, Sixth Form and boarding.
Confidence, Curiosity and Connection form the guiding trio, with bravery, reflection, inquiry, collaboration and kindness attached to it. From September 2026, the Lansdown site is due to welcome girls from age 9 to 18 through Year 5, Year 7, Year 9 and Year 12 entry points. The senior and Sixth Form route therefore has several distinct moments for joining.
Boarding is woven into the older pupils' experience rather than added as a separate option. Occasional, short-stay, weekly and full boarding are available in Years 7 to 13, with resident staff and 24-hour pastoral support. Houses welcome girls from the UK and overseas, and boarders can take part in local clubs, teams and activities.
Applications are made direct, with registration, taster mornings, interviews or assessments and acceptance dates forming the process. Boarding information and fees sit alongside those steps. The girls-only character applies through the Sixth Form and boarding, while the current senior-site intake begins at the stated September 2026 entry points.
