A 1525 foundation tradition, a move into present buildings in 1906 and the gradual arrival of co-education define Royal Grammar School in Newcastle. Girls entered the Sixth Form in 2001, and the school became fully co-educational in 2008. That history gives the current Junior, Senior and Sixth Form community a strong sense of continuity without leaving it fixed in the past.
