Rookwood School

Rookwood is entering a defined new phase: sixth-form provision ends when the current academic year finishes, leaving education from nursery through Year 11. Its co-educational day and boarding model therefore needs to be understood as a current transition rather than a promise of post-16 study.

Small classes and a non-selective senior route shape Years 7 to 11. Science, literature, creative arts and sport are among the highlighted areas, while form tutors, the Emotional Assertiveness programme, an ELSA-trained Pastoral Support Assistant and counselling provide a layered pastoral structure. These arrangements are designed for the present senior years.

Boarding is a small residential part of the provision, with two adjacent houses a few minutes' walk from the main setting and boarding staff living there. Up to 28 boarders aged seven to 16 are accommodated in shared dormitories and communal rooms. Boarding packages can change from term to term, which allows families to choose a less rigid residential pattern.

Year 7 is the main senior entry point, although other year groups can be considered when space permits. External Year 7 applicants spend a day with Year 6 and provide recent school reports; when a year group is oversubscribed, places are offered in registration-date order. The sixth-form change makes those current entry details especially important.
