Rishworth School

Rishworth's story begins in 1724, when a small schoolhouse established the foundation for the present community. The original building is now used as a chapel, while the wider campus extends across around 80 acres. The motto, "Deeds, Not Words", sits naturally beside the emphasis on intellectual enquiry, pastoral care and knowing each pupil well.

Senior School and Sixth Form study are joined by cultural, sporting and creative opportunities. The curriculum is broad, balanced and flexible, with relationships and individual knowledge carrying as much weight as the range of subjects. Boarding can be flexible, weekly or full, from Year 7 through the Sixth Form, with houses, pastoral support, weekend trips and cultural activities bringing together pupils from the UK and overseas.

An international pupil can also use the immersion and short-stay route for ages 11 to 18. Applications can be made throughout the year when places are available, with supporting documents and a registration fee required before the next stage. Those arrangements give the school a practical route for both long-term enrolment and shorter residential experiences.

In January 2025, all relevant standards were met. Rishworth remains co-educational, with boarding and a sixth form. Its identity rests on the meeting of a long local history, rural campus life, flexible residential options and an academic environment that aims to know pupils as individuals.
