Ringwood Waldorf School

Waldorf education gives Ringwood its organising idea: learning is carried from Kindergarten through Class 12, with creative, practical and academic work sharing the same educational frame. The mixed day provision starts with children aged three to six in Kindergarten, while pupils join Class 1 at the beginning of national curriculum Year 2 and can continue through the equivalent of Year 13.

The curriculum makes room for personal development, sport and creative arts. Blacksmithing, printmaking and pottery are named alongside the upper-school academic route. Pupils take English and mathematics GCSEs, while those continuing after 16 work towards the Ringwood Waldorf School Diploma, creating a route that does not simply mirror a conventional sixth form.

The setting is also defined by hands-on activity and a close relationship between practical making and intellectual growth. Affiliation with Waldorf UK supports that approach, while the breadth of the age range allows children to remain within one educational philosophy from early years to the end of secondary study.

The May 2025 outcome was Good, with behaviour and attitudes Outstanding; safeguarding was effective and the independent-school standards were met. Two priorities remain: learning should be adapted more consistently for pupils with SEND, and assessment should be used more reliably to judge readiness for the next stage. Those caveats are important to Ringwood's current picture.
