Two historic girls' schools became one in 2016, bringing Redmaids' High School a combined history of around 500 years and a heritage reaching back to 1634. The girls-only tradition continues from junior years through Sixth Form. That continuity sits behind a curriculum and activity programme shaped by two predecessor communities rather than a recent single institution.
Years 7 to 9 combine core subjects, humanities, creative and performing arts, sport, music and two languages, with an enrichment afternoon each fortnight. GCSE choices usually total nine or ten subjects and can include Russian, business, computer science and dance. Sixth Form students build programmes from A levels, Electives and the Extended Project Qualification; most take three linear A levels, with some taking four.
Nearly 20 music ensembles, choirs, drama, film, radio, public speaking, sport and outdoor adventure fill the week. Redland Hall provides a performance space, and Duke of Edinburgh training runs at Bronze, Silver and Gold. Senior entry includes a January examination; Year 12 applicants have a bespoke taster day and are considered through predicted GCSE grades and a reference.
