Overview
Christianity, privacy, beauty and collegiality give Radley College its particular shape. Founded in 1847, it is a boys' boarding community for ages 13 to 18, organised through Socials, shared meals, pastoral care, Chapel and extensive grounds. The result is a residential rhythm in which academic work, companionship and routines outside lessons are inseparable.
The Shell year supplies a common foundation before boys build a core of English, mathematics, a modern language, science and theology. Later options include design engineering, classical civilisation, computer science, drama, music, Latin and modern languages. Critical-thinking teaching and targeted academic support can be added when diagnostic work identifies a need.
Five Chapel services each week, Hall dining and Cocoa, when each Social talks without phones, are characteristic fixtures of life here. Admission involves open days, personal visits and a bespoke assessment. Full boarding means the house community is not an add-on to the curriculum but the setting in which the week unfolds.
